A dark and shocking truth about self-discipline

"A dark and shocking truth about self-discipline"

Author: Andrey Belyakov

Jim Rohn said: "Self-discipline works wonders." Once upon a time I agreed with it.

For a long time I was trying to improve their lives through the development of self-discipline. But apparently, something was missing.

I think you should be familiar with this scenario. You begin, for example, jogging in the morning. Doing this week, two, maybe - even more than a month.

Then in a day is an occasion not to run. You are relieved to say to yourself, "That's nice, now rest, and start running again tomorrow."

And you can even really begin to run again the next day.

But the problem is that in the end you're still throwing the case.

I do not know how you and I have such a scenario has been repeated countless times in various spheres of life.

Hundreds of thousands of people repeatedly trying to quit smoking, stop drinking or lose weight through self-discipline and have a time of times does not work.

Apparently, if people with strong will and there - they are a negligible percentage of the total weight.

I have long puzzled over the question "Why is this happening?" And "What do you do?", And suddenly stumbled upon the answer to one of the books of Henry Erdman, who actually was devoted to investment (in mysterious ways of the Lord).

The answer was what it is. Self-discipline - a kind of psychological dam. Stemming from her by the river of our desires, we create a huge and growing pressure.

This pressure is growing and growing, and at some point, it simply destroys the dam. Sound familiar? We all have a limit of patience, that's all.

The problem is that if you have more highly developed willpower, it does not mean that you will find another final. Most likely, you simply "break" a little later.

Erdman also wrote that facialiator person should not be self-discipline and a positive goal, which is necessary to think as much as possible. And then I also agree with him.

If you rather concentrate on a specific positive goals, the situation is reversed.

Instead of to suffer for the sake of the implementation of the necessary actions, you will begin to increasingly perform these steps automatically. For you, it will become natural.

That's the way it should happen in my life! This is - a sign that you're on the right track.

For this purpose should be very personal. That is, for you must have a hankering to achieve it.

From my own experience I can say that the search of personal goals - quite a deal, and requires constant effort. The reasons are two.

First, the skill of setting such goals initially, most people are not developed. We are accustomed to think stereotypically and with an eye to others' opinions.

In addition, surrounding themselves in trying to convince us all that we want (or need) to aspire to what they have set for us.

And secondly - with you change your goals. If you grow as a person, then your goals are often more extensive and more personal.

Thus, it can be summarized as follows.

If you have problems with self-discipline in some areas, you need to

Set a goal, if it does not exist;

If the goal is - to change it, making it more desirable.

Of course, another important point - the need to remember at least a couple times a day.

It is better to put them somewhere in a conspicuous place and re-read at your leisure.

I would like to stress - the belief that people are hampered by a lack of willpower - it's confusing. So many people try to justify their failures, but the real reason is not the point.

If you're doing it right, you can do almost no willpower.

If you perform some action, but not the sole objective of these actions, you probably have not bring follow through.

So focus on your goals. And stories about willpower leave chronic alcoholics.
