THE STORY OF 333

THE STORY OF 333

At the weekend I was going to speak at a seminar in Deer Hurst, north of Toronto. Friday night on the town, Barry hit a tornado, killing several people and causing damage worth millions of dollars. On Sunday evening, returning home, I stopped on the way to Barrie, parked on the roadside and walked out. Looking around, I saw the appalling consequences of the hurricane - destroyed homes and overturned cars.

On the same evening on the freeway driving and Bob Templeton. He, like me, he stopped to look at the effects of the elements, but Bob thought at the time about other things. Bob Templeton - Vice-President "Telemedia komyunikeyshnz", which owns a network of radio stations in Ontario and Quebec. Bob pondered the question, what can help the people of his station.

The next day, I conducted a seminar in Toronto. Bob Templeton and Bob Johnson, another vice-president of "Telemedia", entered the hall and stopped at the far wall. They discussed the important question: how to help residents of Barry, which hit a tornado? After the seminar we went to the office of Bob and has three continued the conversation.

Next Friday, Bob was invited to his office producers "Telemedia". Putting it on the table a sheet of paper, he wrote the title "333" and appealed to the producers:

- Would you like to collect three million dollars over three days, starting today, and three hours and give them to residents of Barry, the victims of a tornado?

The answer was a long silence. Finally, someone said:

- Templeton, what are you talking about? We can not do it! Bob said:

- Wait a minute! I did not say what you can or should be. I asked whether you want to collect money or not?

Producers spoke in unison:

- Of course, we want to.

Then Bob shared a piece of paper into two halves. On one side of the paper, he wrote: "Why can not we" - and another question: "How do we do it."

- I cross out the half sheet, which is entitled "Why can not we" - continued Bob. - Why do we spend time discussing why we are not able to help the residents of Barry? We do not need. Let's turn to the other half of the sheet and write down where our thoughts on how we support people affected by the disaster. And do not leave this room until until solution is not found.

After these words, in the office again for a long time there was silence.

Finally, someone said:

- We could conduct radio broadcasts across Canada.

- Great idea! - Bob praised and recorded it on a sheet of paper.

However, one of the producers said:

- We can not do this because we do not have radio stations broadcasting across Canada.

Objection was taken: the radio station located only in Ontario and Quebec.

Templeton also urged the crowd:

- That is why we can. Radio stations have the same!

But the remark was a good producer - all stations compete with each other and agree with them about working together is almost impossible.

Suddenly, someone suggested:

- We could turn to Harvey Kirk and Lloyd Robertson - a famous Canadian lead radio. Although it is unlikely they will agree.

After a while the discussion of the proposal ended. This happened on a Friday and next Thursday radio program was broadcast. More than fifty radio stations across the country have agreed to broadcast it on the air. It does not matter who took the credit for it, most importantly - the people Barry received much-needed money. Harvey Kirk and Lloyd Robertson accepted the proposal to this radio program. For three days and three hours they collected three million dollars for the victims of the tornado!

You will be able to absolutely everything, if you focus your efforts and will not think about what you are something you can not.
