An excerpt from the book of P. Ekmana "Psychology of lies"
Lying can lead to positive emotions. The lie can be considered an achievement that in itself is always a pleasure. Liar may feel excitement or joy from the call, either directly in the process of deception, where success is not entirely clear. In the case of success may be the pleasure of relief, pride in achievements and a sense of self-contempt for the victim. Exaltation of fraud is relevant as all at once, and to each of these senses alone, and if a liar is not particularly trying to hide them, they can also issue a fraud. Example of the innocent delight of deception is when some fool child trustingly friend. Deceiver must hide his delight, even if the lottery is more targeted to those with no less delight in seeing that deceive naive prostachka.
Exaltation of fraud could also be of varying intensity. It can be completely absent; be negligible compared to the fear of exposure, or so strong, that result in certain behavioral characteristics. People can be recognized in the deception, wishing to share their joy with others. We know that criminals talk about their crimes to friends, strangers and even the police, waiting for recognition and appreciation of their abilities, which they so cleverly deceive other people.
But a lie, as well as mountain climbing or playing chess, can bring pleasure only if there is some risk. In my tenure as a student of the college at the University of Chicago in the early fifties, was the fashion to steal books from the university bookstore. This is a true initiation rites for beginners, usually limited to the theft of several books and performed almost publicly. Pangs of conscience when it was very tiny. Students felt that the university bookstore does not have to be a commercial enterprise, but because he continued to work for profit, and it deserved such treatment. Nearby private bookstores, no one touched. Fear of exposure was also low, since no precautions are not taken in the store. For all the time my training was caught only one man, and gave it the incredible delight of deceit. His, Bernard, simple theft is not satisfied. He decided to raise the bid to demonstrate its contempt for the shop and earn the admiration of friends. He began to steal large art albums, which are very hard to hide. Once this Prielom, he went further and began to take just three or four albums. But this was not enough. He started teasing sellers. Elf stayed close to the cashier, holding their prey under his arm and is not making no effort to hide it. He provoked officials to questions. Exaltation of deception led him to tempt fate more and more. Finally obvious behavioral signs of fraud gave his delight. He was caught. In his bedroom and found nearly five stolen books. Subsequently, by a very respectable business, Bernard has become a millionaire.
Exaltation of fraud may increase for other reasons. For example, it is added urgency to the need to cheat, who has a reputation as a man who is hard to deceive. It is also contributes to delight deception and the presence of people anticipant triumph trickster. However, insight and better understand the public does not attend because her presence, her enjoyment of the presentation may cause a liar of such delight that his disguise would be very difficult - the whole idea simply to fail.
An experienced poker player keeps control of any manifestation of their feelings, including надувательства delight. If he has strong hands on the card, it must convince all of his behavior that his cards are not very good, so that other players have raised rates and have remained in the game. Even when some did not petition the audience fully see what he does, he should restrain any of his delight. And for that it is better not to meet with those unwitting witnesses to the eyes.
Some people are more inclined to the delight of fraud than others. And, while on the subject yet, no studies have been conducted, observed, that the delight of deception most amateurs tend to brag.
Cheating, people can feel the enthusiasm of deceit, remorse, fear of exposure - at the same time or one by one. Consider a poker game. When blefuya the player pretends to have all skinuli card, it may be a fear of exposure, especially if the stakes are very high. If he sees that the partners one after another, shall, it can also arise, and delight of deceit. But, since deception is allowed, he would have no qualms of conscience, unless, of course, he does not cheat. Embezzler could feel all three emotions at once: the enthusiasm about how he had swindled the staff and the owner, the fear of the fact that it can at any moment to catch, and, perhaps, remorse because that violated the law and not justified the confidence placed in him.
In hell, you can say the following: rapture deception increases when:
victim behaves defiantly, with the reputation of a man who is hard to deceive;
itself lies a challenge;
is understanding the audience and the judges of Excellence liar.
Pangs of conscience, fear of exposure, the enthusiasm of fraud can occur in the body language, voice, or plastic, even when the liar is trying to hide them. If they still manage to hide, the internal struggle, necessary in order to hide them, may also give behavioral signs of fraud. In the near future we will look at ways to identify fraud in the words, voice, body movements and facial expressions.
